Meet our Instructors

We are fortunate to have an inspiring staff of dance artists. Our instructors have received many prestigious awards for their artistic and entertaining choreography. We take great pride in the creative atmosphere at First Position that nurtures our young students and builds confidence and strength of character in our dancers. Students and their families will always come first at First Position.

Sharon Dolan Owner/Director

In addition to managing the business aspects of the studio, Sharon's expertise is with our Pre-School dancers. She has managed and staged numerous elementry school theater productions and was reognized by Who's Who Among American Business Owners. Sharon was named Valedictorian of her class at the Roberts-Walsh Business School and also attended Middlesex County College and Kean College majoring in child psychology. Her proudest accomplishment is being a mother of two daughters; Shannon a Senior at Rutgers University and Keara a member of the Scarlettes Dance Company. 

Emily Yablonski Owner/Director

Emily has been dancing for most of her life and sharing her love of dance for over two decades. Emily was an award winning ballet and pointe soloist in her youth. She began dancing locally and has trained with top professionals from New York City Ballet, Alvin Alley American Dance Theater, Broadway Dance Center, and world-renowned greats including Frank Hatchett and Luigi. She was involved in theater including performing in Annie, Dames at Sea, Into the Woods. In college, Emily was a member of the 1998 National Champion Rutgers University Dance Team, where she has been an assistant coach since 1999. Emily danced professionally with NJ's Arena Football Team and modeled with Capezio dancewear. First Positions' award-winning Scarlettes Dance Company is under her direction, the company not only competes, but also has strong community involvement. First Position has been awarded the Federation of Dance People’s Choice Award 2011, voted The Best Dance Studio in Central Jersey by The Home News Tribune and named to the FDC Top 50 Dance Studios. Many of Emily's students continue to keep dance in their lives by studying dance, performing on college dance teams, professional teams, and teaching dance. Emily lives locally with her husband and two fun, energetic, and athletic sons. 

Taryn Wennersten Dance Artist

Taryn has been teaching at First Position since we opened our doors in 1999. She grew up competing in the world of both dance and gymnastics. She later went on to become Captain of the National Champion Rutgers University Dance Team and the Head Coach of the Bishop Ahr HS Gymnastics Team. In the studio teaching children dance & acrobatics is where Ms. Taryn feels most at home. Throughout her years at First Position, Ms.Taryn's routines have received choreography & entertainment awards including Top Tumblers at many regional competitions.  Ms. Taryn's unique teaching style empasizes a strong work ethic as she pushes the students to achieve their goals in a fun & enthusiastic way. Ms. Taryn hopes to pass on her passion, strength & determination to all her students. She is also the proud mother of four children in which her two daughters are members of First Position's competitive Scarlettes Dance Company. Ms. Taryn feels blessed to be working in a family environment surrounded by the young talented stars of tomorrow!

Lindsay Cahill Dance Artist

Lindsay Cahill has been an dance artist for First Position School of Dance for the past 15 years, she is also a teaching artist for American Repertory Balletʼs educational outreach program Dance Power since 2009. Her love for the arts began at age 2. She has over 20 years of training in all styles of dance, gymnastics, musical theater, and cheerleading. Ms. Lindsay is a graduate of Rutgers University with a BA in Sociology. While a student, she danced and cheered on the Scarlet Knights for all 4 years on the nationally ranked Rutgers Dance Team, where she was named captain and MVP her last 2 seasons. Ms. Lindsay has a strong and patient teaching style that encourages every student to excel. She has choreographed and coached many of the company members to earn top scores, scholarships, titles, and is the winner of the Federation of Dance Competitions (FDC) Peoples Choice Award 2011 for her lyrical group “Crazy” Ms. Lindsay is excited to continue to inspire and motivate dancers and spread her love for the arts through out the community. 

Shannon Dolan Dance Artist

Alumni of the Scarlettes Dance Company, awarded numerous high score awards and special judges recognition for performances as a soloist, duo/trios and groups. Former member and captain of the Bishop Ahr High School State Championship Gymnastics team. Currently a student at Rutgers University and member of the nationally ranked Rutgers University Dance Team. Assistant coach of the Bishop Ahr High School Gymnastics Team. Certified dance instructor under Universal Dance Association and has traveled all over the country including Illinois, Michigan,and Arizona teaching dance camps and working with the top high school dance teams. Has taken classes with world renowned choreographers such as Mia Michaels, Brian Friedman, and Tabitha and Napoleon (Nappytabs). Continues to travel and take classes throughout the country and in NYC.

Julia Hambrecht Dance Artist

Ms. Julia began taking dance at age 6 and studied ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, tap, and acrobatics. When she saw the competition team perform she fell in love and knew she wanted to be up there. Ms. Julia began competitive dance at age 8 and won regional and national awards. Ms. Julia danced on the Scarlettes   Dance Company at First Position School of Dance for 5 years. Based on her dancing at competitions, she was selected to perform with Team Rave NY. Ms. Julia danced in the Franklin High School Dance Program, where she was introduced to modern dance. Ms. Julia then went onto to Raritan Valley Community College continuing her studies of dance. She received her BA degree in dance at Rider University where she studied dance history, choreography and laban movement. She also studied ballet and modern through Princeton Ballet School, which Rider has a partnership with. While attending Rider she did student teaching at Princeton Ballet School and began her teaching career at a local dance studio. Ms. Julia has been teaching for 6 years and hopes to further her experience and dream of teaching other students everything she has learned and help them grow as dancers. She has a passion for dance and love for working with children. 

Nick Hambrecht Dance Artist

Nick Hambrecht, a New York City based dancer, who has been training in most genres of dance since the age of three. Nick started out as a competition dancer and from 2001-2011 he traveled around central jersey collecting multiple overall and title awards. After 9 years Nick left the competition world to embark on a more commercial/industry track, studying in different genres of Hip-Hop, such as Popping/Waving, Vogueing, House, BBoying, etc. After four years of training and performing around the NJ/NYC area in places such as, the Highline Ballroom for Sybarite, Atlantic City & Boston for The Pulse on Tour, Central Park for the Summer Stage Tour as an opening act for Rock Steady Crew and being featured in a Music Video for a local artist in NJ, Nick took his training to the world famous Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan, NY. During his studies and shortly after graduating he was given many performance opportunities, such as being the lead in a concept video choreographed by AshléDawson (SYTYCD Season 1 Top 4) entitled "Dittoheads" and many other projects with Ashléwhich include playing the lead (Dr. Fright) in the “Dead Man’s Party” at Six Flags Great Adventure and being featured in a video for the non-profit organization Global Citizens. Other choreographers include Ellenore Scott (SYTYCD Season 6 Finalist), Carlos Neto, performing at Madison Square Garden for Brinda Guha, and for Derek Mitchell's Capezio ACE Awards piece "loss/gain" in L.A. In March of 2016 Nick signed with Lucille DiCampli's new agency, LDC Artist Representation and since then he has pounding the pavement in the audition world and performing in such places as the Philippines and Canada.


Courtney Hollosi Dance Artist

Courtney is a Scarlettes Dance Company Alumni who grew up dancing here at First Position since the opening in 1999. She has received a number of overall and high score awards while competing with the Scarlettes. She also had the privilege of being selected to perform with Team Rave NY. When going off to college and studying Psychology at Ramapo College, she continued learning about dance by engaging in ballet, modern and history of dance classes. Now being a Preschool Teacher for the last four years she found herself back at First Position eager to share her passion of dance and teaching with the new students.

Kristine Lester Dance Artist

Miss Kristine has been a part of the First Position family since 1999. She is an accomplished dancer and baton twirling soloist, as well as a proud alumna of the Scarlettes Dance Company. While dancing with the Scarlettes, she received Platinum, Overall and High Score awards competing at both regional and national competitions. She has even had the privilege of choreographing a few routines for our Scarlettes Performance Team over the past few years. When it comes to the genres of Musical Theater and Tap, you can really see her passion for dance, and her desire to instill confidence and character in her students each week. Miss Kristine also uses her creativity and charisma outside of the studio working as Marketing Manager for DeVry Medical International. She even holds two Masters Degrees with distinction, from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Stephanie Palm Dance Artist

Stephanie has been dancing for 22 years and has been part of the First Position family since 2001. She attended Montclair State University for two years where she studied as a Dance major. For the past three years Stephanie has been a part of the emerging contemporary dance company Artistic Visions, where she both dances and sets original choreography. Teaching and sharing dance and gymnastics is something that Ms Stephanie loves to do and she plans to continue for as long as she can!

Emily Pareti Dance Artist

Miss Emily P (formerly Miss Emily A) grew up in Milltown, NJ. She began her childhood as an All Star Cheerleader and Level 5 Gymnast. After attending First Position’s dance recital in 2002 to watch her sister and best friend perform, she insisted on joining! Emily joined the First Position Scarlettes Dance Company at the age of 11. Her areas of focus were Acro, Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary and Musical Theatre. Emily’s strong tumbling and acro skills led her to an award winning acro solo and acro trio in addition to a jazz duo and trio. Emily was selected to be on Team Rave NY - a performance team that consisted of dancers from various studios in the tri-state area. Emily was also a Spotswood High School varsity cheerleader and captain of the team. Emily received a BA in Communications from Rutgers University in 2014 and was a member of the prestigious Rutgers University Dance Team during her college career. Emily performed at the Rutgers football games, basketball games and traveled to select away games and bowl games with the team. She was the Community Service Captain organizing the dance team’s community outreaches, volunteer events and fundraising. Emily competed at the UDA College Championship in Orlando for three years with the RU Dance Team. She then competed at the UCA College Championship with the RU Co-Ed Cheer Team during her senior year. After college graduation, Emily moved to the island of Oahu with her high school sweetheart. During Emily’s four years in Hawaii, Emily was a Construction Office Manager, Realtor and a Gymnastics and Tumbling Coach. Emily is a 2x Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Survivor treated in New Brunswick, NJ in 2010 and then again in Honolulu, HI in 2017. “Emily’s Entourage” was started by her First Position family as a support system during her cancer fights. She is now in great health and enjoys giving back to the cancer organizations that helped her and her family. Emily is currently working towards her Yoga Teacher certification from Honor Yoga. Yoga is one of her passions and helped her heal physically, emotionally and spiritually during her health challenges. Emily taught at First Position from 2009-2014 with a focus in acro, tumbling and hip hop. Emily is excited to be back teaching at the studio to share her positivity and love for dance with the students here at FPS!

Keara Dolan  Dance Artist

Keara began her career in the Arts and Entertainment Industry as a child actress.  She has been featured in numerous print and commercial ads.  She appeared as a feature actress on the Emmy Award winning soap opera “As The World Turns," playing the role of Faith Snyder for four years. She began dancing at the age of 2. At the age of 6 she became a competitive dancer as a member of The Scarlette’s Dance Company.  She has received numerous over all and top scoring awards as a group dancer and for her duet.  As a senior she was awarded a scholarship to The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City for her solo.  She attended many conventions in the tri-state area and has studied dance at the world famous Broadway Dance Center under some of the greatest dancers and choreographers in the industry.  She has extensive training in all areas of dance and gymnastics. Keara is known for her outstanding Ballet Technique and flexibility.  She recently performed with The Main Street Theater Company. She plans to audition for the Artistic Visions Dance Company in the fall and perform with them in 2019.  Keara began teaching at First Position 3 years ago and is devoted to sharing her passion and love of dance with her students. 

Victoria Zaorski Dance Artist

Victoria began dancing at First Position School of Dance at the age of 2.  Her teachers saw amazing focus and ability in Victoria at such a young age.  She became one of the youngest dancers to be a member of The Scarlette’s Dance Company at the age of 5.  Victoria was awarded top overall, high score and title winner at many elite dance competitions in her solo, trio and groups.  She was known for winning many judges awards for our outstanding gymnastic ability.  While in high school she was a gymnast at Monmouth Elite Gym (the same gym that US Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez attends) and also competed for her high school gymnastic team.  Victoria is currently in Nursing School studying to receive her BSN RN.  She has received her CPR certification and is an EMT along with working as a Nurses Assistant at Saint Peter’s Hospital. Victoria has been assisting in classes at First Position for 2 years.  She is excited to bring her love of gymnatics and dance to her First Position Family.
